FAQs

Yeah good thanks!…aah… I mean hello!

Bouldering is rock climbing without the need for ropes and harnesses; you typically climb to 5 metres and land safely on soft mats. Sounds simple enough, right?

Absolutely! Most people don’t realise that climbing is not just about “upper body strength”. In fact, balance and coordination is much more important, especially for climbers just starting out. So please don’t be intimidated; La Roca was created because we wanted to share our love for climbing with new people, and we have many routes at different difficulties to suit all skill levels.

First up, we suggest wearing comfortable sports gear, the same as you might wear to the gym. If you dont have your own climbing shoes, you will need to rent a pair. They will really help you climb and to have a better experience over-all.  Apart from that, bring a drink bottle; and a change of clothes/towel if you wish, as we do have a shower/change rooms.

We are very supportive of the next generation of climbers. That being said, La Roca is a gym tailored to adults. That means our routes are set with an average adults’ body in mind. Children may therefore have difficulty with reaching holds and a 5 metre fall is much greater for kids, making the likelihood and severity of injury much higher. That is why we have a minimum age of 16 to use our facilities.  All climbers under the age of 18 must also have the legal waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.

You bet your ass you can. The La Roca cafe and outdoor seating area is pet friendly.

No probs. Although no pre-bookings are required, if you are bringing a group of more than 10 people we would appreciate it if you let us know beforehand so we can prepare for your arrival. Please get in touch via Facebook, Instagram or Email at climb@laroca.com.au.

Hi Hungry, I’m La Roca ; )

We serve espresso and filter coffee from MAKER Fine Coffee in Richmond and our drinking chocolate is from Mörk specialty hot chocolate in North Melbourne. We also have a selection of Carman’s muesli bars available.

I know right! Checkout our pricing page for entry and membership fees.

P.S. We accept VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and Apple Pay with no minimum spend or surcharge, woohoo!

You can checkout our opening hours page for more details. You can also follow us on insta for daily updates and adjustments to our opening hours.

Thanks! That’s a huge compliment. Please send an email to climb@laroca.com.au with your details and a little bit about yourself (CV optional). We will let you know if any jobs open up.

No worries, we look forward to seeing you here.
